ESGM Celebrates IDAHOBIT 2025: The Power of Communities

On 17 May 2025, Eswatini Sexual and Gender Minorities (ESGM), in partnership with United Voices for Diversity (Eswatini Consortium), hosted a vibrant and heartfelt celebration of the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, and Transphobia (IDAHOBIT) at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini.

Held under the global theme “The Power of Communities,” the event brought together members of the LGBTIQ+ community, civil society partners, and distinguished representatives from the EU Delegation and the British High Commission.

The gathering honoured the strength, resilience, and unity of LGBTI+ individuals and allies in Eswatini, while also highlighting the importance of community in advancing equality, inclusion, and human rights. Through powerful speeches, cultural performances, and shared reflections, the event amplified the voices and lived experiences of gender and sexual minorities.

As ESGM, we remain committed to fostering safe, affirming spaces for our community and strengthening collaborations that uphold the dignity and rights of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or expression.
